Happy National Empanada Day!

Two years ago I was lucky enough to travel around Chile, and in my travels, I was on the hunt for the best empanada.  I gotta say, NOTHING topped Toronto's Jumbo Empanadas in Kensington Market! The owner, Irene, actually moved to Toronto from Chile and brought with her her incredibly flavourful empanadas! She makes three different kinds (chicken, beef, and vegetable) but I can't choose a favourite. I love them all and have gotten into the habit of just rotating between flavours every time I eat them.  Make sure you also get a container of Irene's spicy salsa.  Her salsa always tastes like she just picked the tomatoes and herbs from her garden that morning, (even if they may be from the market) so fresh, flavourful, and delicious! After you have had her salsa, you won't want to ever buy jarred salsa again! After today, the weather is supposed to be getting warmer again (and no more snow!!!) so go walk around Kensington and stop in to say hi to the lovely and sweet Irene (she really is such a sweet woman) and try her mouth watering empanadas!
