Note: You may change this dessert up depending on what you have on hand and what fruit is in season. Just try to balance flavours and textures.
Note: Make additional crumble topping to keep in your fridge to add on top of baked apples or mini crumbles throughout the week.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, cut in chunks
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup flour
1 1/2 cups strawberries, sliced
1 apple, cut in chunks
1 cup blueberries
1 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
1. Grease a 9 inch baking dish. Combine fruit in a bowl and mix in cinnamon. Empty fruit into baking dish, making sure to spread fruit evenly.
2. In a food processor, pulse butter, sugar, and flour until crumbly. Spoon crumble topping evenly over fruit.
3. Bake at 375 ยบ for 40 minutes. Serve hot or cold. (I prefer hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!)

Thanks for all the lovely comments!
ReplyDeleteCiao Chow Linda: I heard that the difference between a crumble and a crisp is the oatmeal. The addition of oatmeal makes the texture crispier, that's why the crisp topping is often used on pies. I usually prefer crisps but I was sadly all out of oatmeal :(
OH MY GOSH! That looks wonderful. i think my BF would die and go to heaven if I made this for him! I think I will. Thanks. And thanks again for following Our (my sister and I)blog!

"If you were a pie, I'd eat you and it at the same time cause you're both delicious!" hehe. He's silly.
Thanks again for this!

ReplyDeleteHey, you're Canadian and you just called this a crumble! I did a recent post on the crisp/crumble difference. I think you're right, what you made IS a crumble (crisps have oatmeal), it's just that Canadians don't eat very many crumbles so lots of people aren't familiar with the terms and would call anything like this a crisp.
ReplyDeleteYet: I'm so glad your boyfriend enjoyed it! I can't imagine anyone not loving this delicious dessert though! The mixed berries would taste wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHilary: Thats interesting I guess being a Canadian I didnt know that. I do usually make crisps actually, but I ran out of oatmeal. Hmmm i must be a true Canadian eh? haha
yum!! i definitely need to try to make that!
